Toilet Repair in Fort Worth, TX

Need toilet repair in Fort Worth? Fort Worth Plumbing handles toilet repair across Fort Worth, TX and the towns around it — diagnosed first, with the part named and the price given before the work starts.

Toilet Repair done straight

We work out which part has actually failed before anyone quotes a repair, we say so when the fix is something you can do yourself for nothing, and we leave every fixture we touched running, draining and dry underneath.

  • The price before the wrench — you hear what the repair costs, parts and labor, before any work starts.
  • The free checks come first — a tripped breaker, a reset button, a pilot that has gone out or a jammed disposal, talked through on the phone at no charge.
  • A valve is a valve — a worn part is not a reason to quote you a new water heater, a new toilet or a new sewer line.
  • The evidence is yours — the failed part on your own fixture, and the camera footage on any sewer line recommendation.

Almost every toilet fault is one of three parts

A toilet that refills on its own, hisses, or runs after every flush has a flapper that no longer seals or a fill valve that is set too high or worn out. A toilet that rocks, or leaves water on the floor around the base, has a failed wax ring under it, usually because the toilet has been moving and broke the seal. A toilet that clogs over and over has a blockage in its own trapway or further down the line. Each of those is a part and a short job. Fort Worth Plumbing names which one it is before pricing it, and a toilet that works except for one worn part is not a reason to sell you a new one.

The food coloring test

Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank, not the bowl, and leave the toilet alone for fifteen minutes. If color appears in the bowl, the flapper is leaking and the tank is quietly refilling itself all day. If the bowl stays clear but the tank is still running, look at the overflow tube in the middle of the tank: water spilling into it means the fill valve is set too high or not shutting off. Either way you now know which part it is, which is most of the diagnosis.

Toilet Repair questions

Is a running toilet worth fixing quickly?

Yes. A toilet that runs continuously wastes a large amount of water, and it is usually the cheapest repair in the house. If you want to stop it in the meantime, turn the shutoff valve behind the toilet clockwise.

Why is there water around the base of my toilet?

Most often the wax ring that seals the toilet to the drain has failed, which also lets sewer gas through, so it should not wait. Condensation on the tank in humid weather and a loose supply connection are the other two causes, and both are easy to rule out.

When is a new toilet the right answer?

When the porcelain is cracked, when the bowl itself is the reason it keeps clogging, or when you want a different model. A worn flapper, fill valve or wax ring is a repair.
